By blogging u give others a chance to enter into ur private space, u write abt ur life, abt things related to u, abt people related to u and sometimes also abt the things and people u want to relate to.
Writing abt the people u are related to is fine because they are a part of ur life u can write what u feel about them. But what abt the people u want to be a part of ur life but they r not.
Do we have a right to write abt those people who haven’t given us the permission to do so ? Is it justified to comment on someone directly or indirectly by means of a blog, when u know that ur blog is going to be read by hundreds of people and may be by that person also. I feel its totally absurd.
May be i m doing the same thing…but isn’t it wrong….shudn’t people stop doing this ???

u can do it i.e blog abt ppl who havent given u permission .. provided it is abstract enough so that no one is able to understand the context
“By blogging u give others a chance to enter into ur private space”
I don’t agree with this statement. In my opinion people write blogs to show others what they have written. Had it been their private thing then they wouldn’t have written it in blogs. Yeah you can not conclude about the the intention or assumption of the person who is writing the blog whether he wants others to read it or not, or whether he feels that blogs are meant for private stuff or something. Since it is known to a writer that blogs will be visible to outside world and can be read by anybody in the world, so if he doesn’t want his writings to be read by anybody else then he wouldn’t blog it on internet. What do you feel why people enroll their blogs on Blogroll ? So if you are reading anybody’s blog then you are not entering into the private space of any person, in my opinion you are making that person happy by contributing into the number of hits to his blog
Yeah people do write their private stuff on their blogs which they do not want to share with others but in such cases they do not share the URL
“Do we have a right to write abt those people who haven’t given us the permission to do so ?”
In my opinion we should not write about somebody specially when it is bad, in our blogs. If we feel bad about somebody then that is our opinion about him, the person might be good but we have some opinion due to some circumstances, reasons and out own assumptions. If we share that piece of bad information about (which may be wrong) with others then it will create a bad image of that person in other’s mind. It is a kind of passive violence. We can hurt that person indirectly.
If you see my blog then I write a lot about the system, that is my analysis. But I do not take any name, or I do not point out any individual, and I do not refer to any incident with any individual. It is totally abstract. When you talk on abstract levels then you just discuss the ideas rather than discussing the people.
There is no problem in discussing the ideas. You can see it as the sharing of knowledge. Yeah if you discuss people or events related to people then it is wrong in my eyes.
@mythalez, Devansh: If what u write is abstract then there is no problem, problem arises when u point out the things…and intentionally try to tell ppl whom u r referring to……
I hate “Right to Speech”
I got a formula:
1. If you are famous (i.e. many ppl will read), be very careful about your comments, they should be totally diplomatic
2. If you are not famous (i.e. few ppl will read), comment with freedom
3. If you want to be famous, comment harshly & make things controversial, I bet the blog will become famous
4. If you want to be famous + no risk, comment harshly but with a smiley at the end of every sentence
5. If you are a kind person (which we know u r), dont worry at all, we know you wont comment on any1 which can hurt that person
@ORB : Nice Formula…..Thanks a lot for the comment
Hey…long time no post… :O …write sth da…
Nice blog!
Well! By blogging we let people peek into our personal lives as much as we want them too…
Often when we do so we get answers to questions we might not get the answers for, from people around us.
I remember I had written a post once
“When in pain, blog it”
Also, I had taken a poll on my blog ~ Are blogs the true peep-ins in the life/nature of the author?
check here
and had then written a post on it, which can be read here
Enjoy

@Arti : Yeah i completely agree with the statement “By blogging we let people peek into our personal lives as much as we want them too”. My point here was do we have the right to write abt someone who we either want or assume to be a part but actually he/she is not ?
Well, its your opinion on that person that your expressing, aint it? I suppose its only if that particular person tells you about his/her being uncomfortable about you writing about them, that you must re-assess.
@Rohit: Yup its ur opinion tht u r expressing…if its not direct then it is acceptable but if u are directly commenting at someone then i consider this as wrong.
